UnCharted: Teen Writers Intensive
Do you have a story to tell? We think you do! By the end of your five days at UnCharted, you’ll have written a play and seen it read by actors for a live audience!
UnCharted is a five day writing workshop focused on developing script writing skills through the frame of a ten-minute play. You will work through the writing process step-by-step from start to finish with a team of experienced writers and teachers who will develop a piece concurrently using the same framework as the students. The class will cover how to generate ideas, develop characters, structure a story, work with images and themes, write dialogue, and how to give and take constructive feedback. In addition, you’ll be introduced to industry-standard script writing software and hear about the business first hand from established writers from theater and film/TV.
We love to teach writing to writers, and we hope to see you there!
At the end of the course:
- Students will have a solid understanding of the theater and playwright industry
- By the end of this week-long intensive, each student will have developed a ten-minute long play with guidance from the faculty.
- These short plays will be presented at a reading for an audience of their peers, family, and friends on the evening of the final day of the workshop.
